Team Bayelsa on Saturday continued their impressive performance in the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State tagged Asaba 2024.

The National Youth Games which entered day three saw Bayelsa winning three medals, one gold, two silver and a bronze medal.

Atinuke Alfred Olajide gave Bayelsa gold in the 50 metres Breaststroke in swimming while Ayibamieye Kachisiku secured two silver for the oil rich state in the 50 metres freestyle.

Bayelsa state five male doubles have also progressed to the final of the National Youth Games. The Bayelsa team beat Borno State 2-1 to qualify for the final.

Abraham Saviour and Plato George claimed bronze in para table tennis doubles to increase Bayelsa medal tally.

In Basketball Bayelsa male team defeated Kwara State 5-3 to qualify for the final and will now face Cross Rivers State on Monday in the battle of supremacy.

Earlier in the day two sisters, Atinuke Alfred Olajide and Annette Alfred Olajide gave Bayelsa gold in 100 metres Breaststroke in swimming, fives with a bronze medal.

Team Bayelsa as of the time of filing this report have won ten medals comprising, three gold, three silver and four bronze medals occupying third position on the medal table after day three. Gold medalist Annette Alfred Olajide and Atinuke Alfred Olajide in an interview, said they are elated to clinch gold for Bayelsa State, stating that their priority is to earn a living through swimming.

Also, silver medalist Ayibamieye Kachisiku, asserted that her parents have put effort for her to excel, saying that her target is to win more laurels for the state as well as give Bayelsa good representation in the future.
