Mrs. Jean Ebi Apreala, the newly appointed Head of the Media and Publicity Department at the Bayelsa State Sports Council, is already making significant strides. In her inaugural meeting with the media committee, she underscored the media’s vital role in shaping a positive image for the council. Apreala stressed the importance of verifying official information before dissemination, a crucial step for maintaining credibility.
To enhance the visibility of the council’s activities, she advocated for a multi-platform media strategy, utilizing channels like TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook. This approach, she noted, will help engage a wider audience and keep the council relevant in today’s digital landscape.
Additionally, Apreala identified potential funding sources for the media team and expressed her intention to discuss incentive strategies with the Director of Sports. She emphasized that collaboration between her office and the media team will be essential in achieving the council’s publicity goals.
In response, the Chairman of the Media Committee expressed gratitude to Apreala and provided an overview of the committee’s ongoing activities. He highlighted the council’s website, managed by Mr. Abali Johnson, as a valuable resource for promoting sports in the region.
Mrs. Apreala’s appointment comes from Sir Braveman Wodi, the Director of Sports for the Bayelsa State Sports Council. Before taking the lead in media and publicity, she was a senior staff member in the organizing department and served in various capacities as Secretary for different sporting associations.
