In the spirit of the season, the Bayelsa State Sports Council recently hosted a heartwarming event, celebrating the yuletide with seven enchanting Christmas carols. This festive occasion was designed to build bridges of love and reconciliation among staff, athletes, and officials.
The highlight of the event was the Director of Sports’ poignant speech, emphasizing the need for reconciliation. Echoing the officiating minister’s sermon on reconciling with God and one another, he took the opportunity to ask for forgiveness from those he may have wronged and announced his forgiveness for any grievances against him. This remarkable display of humility and leadership resonated deeply with all present.
Adding to the event’s significance, the Director of Sports made two key announcements. Firstly, he officially postponed the 2024 National Sports Festival to May 16-30, 2025, to be held in Ogun State. Secondly, he shared the council’s approval for the procurement of rice for staff, fulfilling a promise made by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.
The celebration was graced by several dignitaries, including the Director of Sports, the Secretary of the council, the Chairman of Bayelsa Queens Football Club, and various department heads. The event was a testament to the council’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity and reconciliation within its community.
