Director of Sports Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi on Thursday led his management to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, the wife of former Director of Sports, Jackson Bidei.
Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 67, after a brief illness.
Speaking during the visit, Sir Wodi said the council received the shocking news of Mrs Bidei’s demise with sadness, describing her death as “tragic and a painful loss’’ not only to the Bidei’s but to the people of the state.
The Director expressed his condolence to the Bidei family and acknowledged the significant legacy left by the late commissioner in public service and state development, stating that late Mrs. Bidei was a quintessential and supportive wife.
Describing Mrs. Bidei as a woman of valour, Sir Wodi lauded her contributions to the growth and development of Bayelsa State, pointing out that the council would do everything possible to support her funeral.
“We cannot query or question God. This brings to the fore the fact that each one of us is a mere mortal, and only what we do will speak when we are gone.” he said.
The Odi born sports administrator prayed to the almighty God to give Jackson Bidei and his family the fortitude to bear their irreplaceable loss.
