“If there is a people to pray, there is a Mighty God who answers.”
This has become the resounding declaration among the staff of the Bayelsa State Sports Council — a spiritual culture inspired by the visionary leadership of the Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Eredoye Wodi, since his assumption of office.
Indeed, when a man is diligent in his work, he will not stand before mere men but before kings — and so has it been for the dedicated team at the Sports Council. Through tireless training, discipline, and unwavering faith, they prepared diligently for Ogun 2025. And when the time came, they backed their effort with fervent prayer — and the result was nothing short of victorious.

Why wouldn’t their going out and coming in be blessed? They gave their best: their sweat, their strength, their strategy. And then, they laid it all before the Mighty God of Izon. It is written that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength — they shall mount up with wings like eagles, soar above every storm, and do exploits. We have seen this promise fulfilled, time and again.
We stand in awe of the mercy and faithfulness of God over the Bayelsa State Sports Council. From battles fought in silence to victories celebrated in the open, we return all the glory to the One who turns water into wine — the One who answers when we call.
As we set our eyes on the next national sports festival, our strategy remains unchanged: work hard, train harder, and pray hardest. For we have learned that those who know their God shall be strong and do great exploits. This truth has guided us since 2021, when an altar of prayer was raised within the heart of the Council — a bold step championed by our God-fearing and proactive Director.
Today, with hearts full of gratitude, we gather in one accord to say:
Thank You, Lord, for being our strength, our refuge, and our ever-present help in times of competition. May Your name be praised forever.
