The Sports Medicine Department is saddled with the responsibility of promoting best medical practices to our teeming athletes and sporting population. The department is headed by DR. JUSTICE PATANI AKPOTU (MBBS, M.Sc Sports Medicine).

Our activities are as follows, but not limited to:

Treatment of sports injuries.
Treatment of other Medical and surgical conditions.
Medical coverage of sports events within and outside the state, i.e during National Sports Festivals, National Youth Games and other National and International Sporting events.
Sports Psychology: we offer Psycholology support to athletes and coaches for optimum performance
Nutritional Support: Advice on appropriate, balanced diets and nutritional requirement for various sports.
Pre-Participation Medical Assessment: We also carry out Pre Competition Medical Examination and Assessment of athletes and Officiating Officials.
Traveling with the Sports Teams.
Counseling.
Massage therapy.
Seminar presentations to enlighten athletes and officials on contemporary sports issues such as Dangers of Doping, drug abuse, ills of self medications, and disease prevention and health promotion.
