A proud daughter of Kaiama community, she has consistently championed grassroots sports development, proving to be a game-changer in multiple disciplines.
Currently serving as Secretary of the Bayelsa State Chess Association, Rita continues to drive the expansion of chess and other sports, ensuring Bayelsa’s dominance on the national stage.
Career Achievements & Milestones
Rita’s dynamic approach to sports administration has transformed teams, broken records, and rewritten history.
✅ 2019 – Assistant Secretary, Football: Launched her career in sports administration, setting the foundation for future success.
✅ 2020 – Assistant Secretary, Kickboxing: Played a crucial role in securing a gold medal at the National Sports Festival 2020, displaying her strategic planning abilities.
✅ 2021–2022 – Gymnastics: Led the team to the 21st National Sports Festival 2022, where they made history by winning Bayelsa State’s first-ever gymnastics gold medal since the state’s creation.
✅ 2023 – Para Powerlifting: Appointed to oversee Para Powerlifting and spearheaded the team’s participation in the 2nd National Para Games, where they ended a 10-year gold medal drought with a landmark victory.
✅ 2024 (June–Present) – Secretary, Bayelsa State Chess Association: In September 2024, Rita guided a youth chess team to the National Youth Games in Asaba, where they secured more than half of the chess federation’s total gold medals, solidifying Bayelsa’s reputation as a force in chess.
