Fresh off the back of a dazzling second-place finish at the 2025 National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Bayelsa State’s tireless Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Eredoye Wodi, has wasted no time in shifting gears. With less than two weeks to the kick-off of the National Youth Games in Asaba, the legendary sports administrator has convened a high-level strategy session with the staff of the Bayelsa State Sports Council.

Known for his no-compromise approach to preparation, Sir Wodi’s call to action was loud and clear: “There’s no time to rest on laurels—Team Bayelsa must stay sharp and deliver once again.”
The meeting, held just three weeks after the Ogun triumph, served as both a post-mortem and a rallying cry. Departments reviewed performances across all disciplines, highlighting both triumphs and areas needing fine-tuning. Coaches, technical officials, and athletes were charged with renewed zeal to elevate their game ahead of the Asaba showdown, scheduled for August 26 to September 6.

This gathering isn’t just another meeting—it’s a defining moment in Wodi’s storied career. After 35 years of unbroken service, with seven glittering years as Director, the sports icon is set to bow out—but not before one final charge. Under his watch, Bayelsa has bagged numerous Zonal and National accolades, including maiden Gold Cups and multiple podium placements.
With the Youth Games looming, Sir Wodi’s parting gift may very well be another golden chapter in Bayelsa’s sporting legacy. His message to Team Bayelsa? “Let’s finish strong. Let’s finish proud.”
