The PRS department is vested with the responsibility of gathering sports related data for adequate analysis and planning. It is primarily the data repository for sports information database.

functions

The Department is saddled with the following functions among others:

Coordinates sports planning, research and documentation activities.
Custody and regular updating of bio-data of staff and athletes as well as other technical officials.
Sports data management.
Monitoring and evaluation of Capital projects, activities and plan the implementation of the entire components of the Council.
Coordinate the development plans of the Council (Medium Term Sector Strategy).
Coordinates activities of the eight local government offices of the state.
Conduct research studies in identified and approved sports in Bayelsa state.
Coordinate and monitor marketing and sponsorship activities of the Council.
Maintaining the Council’s Website and overseeing the connectivity to the social media unit, etc.
