Sunday 10th December, 2023 witnessed Medals rain for Team Bayelsa at the 2023 National Para-Games in Abuja. At the Jabi lake,venue of the Para-canoeing event, Bayelsa State athletes won 5 gold and 3 silver Medals on day 1 of Para-canoeing event. Taritimi Warren won the first gold medal for Bayelsa in the para- canoeing event.
At Package B of the National stadium where the first day activities of swimming events were concluded, 6 of Bayelsa state Para-swimmers won gold Medals while 3 other athletes won silver medals. Selekekeme Rejoice, Opori Godstime, Clever Tarenipre, Aretorufa Bob, Tona Vera Agbe-ere, ,Alfred Priscilla and Benson Esther were among the Para-swimmers that won gold in Para-swimming.
Para badminton has also won 4 silver and 1 bronze medal which brings the total medals tally for Team Bayelsa to 12 Gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze Medals as at the time of filling this report.
Other sports like Para powerlifting are expected to rake in more Medals for Team Bayelsa when their events start Tomorow.
